KRYSTAL HUTCHINSON

Contemporary Mix Media Artist

I'm a Second year BA Fine Art student at The University of Central Lancashire. I'm a very passionate and experimental artist that practices in all mediums.

The body of work I've created for this exhibition is called "Eat, Sleep, Corona, Repeat". My aim is to capture how the virus has evolved and now takes part in every aspect of our day to day lives. Through my work, I want to express how we struggle to do normal activities without it looming over our every move.

What theme are you exploring in the piece/s you have exhibited?

The theme I am exploring is the effects of isolation and the pandemic have on onces mental health.

What are your inspirations behind the piece? I wanted to explore the use of photography to document moments during the pandemic when I felt overwhelmed whilst doing simple tasks such as making breakfast or even relaxing in my room. I documented these emotions through quirky still-life photography inquorperating aspects of the pandemic such as latex gloves and mask in pacurlar locations.

Which artists influence you and your work? anti-sublime, Dada artists such as Hannah Hochs and Raoul Hausmann Use of collages, photomontages, Lithograph.

Which medium/s have you used and why? Due to the pandemic making me feel more isolating and my main form of human contact was digitally it only seemed right to try and take a more modern digital approach to my work with use of photography and photoshop like apps on my phone.

What impact do you want to make on the audience? I want the audience to use my work to look back at a moment in time/ in their lifes where they were struggling and felt alone and take comfort in the fact that they made it through it and that they came out different and changed and that that change is okay.
